Your host and native Charlestonian, Randy Cabell, will be happy to help you with recommendations and reservations, for restaurants, tours and entertainment.
The tip of Charleston's Peninsula with White Point Gardens & Battery Park is located just across the street. A walk on the Battery Wall looking out to the harbour to take in the sensational views is a guest favorite. Or, stroll up our lovely brick paved Church Street to stately Broad Street, and then on to the famous Market Street area which offers a variety of unique shops, unforgettable restaurants, the city market and lively night spots.
The Cabell House is the perfect starting and ending point to wander through dozens of nearby art galleries, antique shops, historic homes and marvelous gardens. Shopping opportunities abound on King Street and elsewhere, and there is no end to the tremendous local restaurants to delight your palate for lunch or supper.
Carriage rides, ghost tours, dinner cruises, and boat excursions in the Charleston Harbor are available all year round.
Atlantic Ocean beaches are less than a half an hour's drive - both to the north and south of the city. The Isle of Palms is most often the family friendly choice of our guests to enjoy the shore and swimming, boating, sailing, kite boating, body boarding and surfing.
There is so much to do here: plantations, the South Carolina Aquarium, so many museums, and of course, daily tours to Fort Sumter or on the Yorktown and other battle ships in the harbor. Special events and high profile happenings like the Spoleto Festival are becoming more prevalent as Charleston has taken its place as the most visited city in our nation. And for good reason, we know what hospitality is all about - and it starts right here at 8 Church Street.
Some special events are The Spoleto Festival, Wildlife Expo, House and Garden Tours, Candlelight Tours, Art Walks, Ghost Tours and many more wonderful tours.
Other big Lowcountry happenings include: The S.E. Wildlife Expo, Wine & Food Festival, Spring & Fall House & Garden Tours, The Cooper River Bridge Run, Moja, Piccolo Spoleto, as well as dozens of other heavily attended events.
